2 Corinthians 10

http://www.esvbible.org/2+Corinthians+10/

Paul starts out by saying that he does not like to be rough with people because He remembers Jesus' meekness and gentleness. He hopes he will not find himself in a situation where he has to be rough. We are not to fight in the human ways. We don't use weapons in our war that humans make. We are fighting a spiritual enemy with spiritual weapons. With God's Holy Spirit as our side kick, and the weapons that He provides for us, we can take down the weapons of the enemy, arguments against God. We have to be ready for the enemy, so that he cannot ambush and overtake us. In the rest of this section, Paul talks again about why the people shouldn't hate him. He tells them that He is of Christ, and if they are also of Christ, they should see that. The Corinthians, however, are only judging based on appearance. Secondly, he tells them that Christ has given him power as an apostle, and that when he arrives in Corinth, he will prove it to those who still doubt him.

Paul says that he does not like to brag about what he has done because there is nothing to brag about if real comparisons can't be made. No one can evaluate the job that you have done when it is really the force of the Lord behind you. Instead, if you must brag, do so about what the Lord has called you to do. Brag about what the Lord has done. If you offer your own recommendations, they mean nothing, but if God offers them out to you, then you should take them and let God brag about you.
