Hebrews 1

Now, I know it's been a while. I really am trying to get better, and I have been praying about it. Starting back, I'm gonna study the book of Hebrews, which discusses the superiority of Christ, the importance of faith, and the sacrificial system and Christianity. Here you go: http://www.esvbible.org/Hebrews+1/

The unknown author of Hebrews begins by talking about the prophets. In the Old Testament, God spoke His will to the prophets, and they, in turn, spoke it out to the people. In the New Testament (with maybe the exception of John the Baptist) there are no prophets. Why? We don't need them anymore to tell us of God's will. Jesus came, and we have His word. Jesus is the Son of God and God. Everything is under His authority. We need to look no further than what Jesus has to tell us if we want answers. It should be comforting that we follow the word of the one through whom the universe was made. He now sits at the highest position in Heaven, next to God the Father. He knows all about God's will because He shares that will. He is the ultimate. If you ever doubt Him, just look to His word. No one in His day would have made the claims that He did without being able to back it up, and He surely backed it up.

Jesus has taken a place greater than any of the angels. How do we know this? The author of Hebrews supports this claim with older scriptures. God never told any of the angels that they are His Son, and He is their father. He said about Jesus that the angels must worship Him. God said about the angels that Jesus' messengers will be like wind and His servants turned to flames. God said about Jesus that He would rule justly because He loved what is good and hated what is bad and for that reason, God anointed Him, instead of anyone else, with oil of joy. He also said You laid down the foundation for everything. All of the creations will come to an end, but Jesus will remain. God never offered any of the angels the highest position in Heaven until He could make the enemies footstools. The author believes this brings up the question as to what the angels are. They are the spirits sent to serve those who receive salvation. That can be seen in a few different ways. The angels could currently serve those of us who believe, i.e. Guardian Angels. They could serve us in Heaven as our servants. Or, who on Earth knows? We just have to wait to find out.
